The History of the Auto Inn
William C. “Bill” Matz, a lifelong automobile enthusiast, purchased the former Bekins Van & Storage facility in 1989 to house his personal collection of antique, classic and specialty autos. Other auto enthusiasts began asking if they could rent space from Bill to store their cars. Hence, The Auto Inn was established in 1990.

The following year, Bill purchased an adjoining property that had housed a nursery and garden supply business and on that lot an additional building constructed adjoining The Auto Inn.

Further enclosing the space between the two buildings increased our capacity to 20,000 square feet for the storage and maintenance of vehicles.

The Auto Inn Today
We are centrally located in the Coachella Valley, less than 5 miles from the Palm Springs International Airport. The Auto Inn has grown to be the Valley’s premier auto storage facility.

We specialize in the storage of automobiles for seasonal and full-time residents, offering both long term and short-term storage. Whether you leave the Valley in search of cooler weather for the summer, or merely want to store your vehicle while on a short vacation, or otherwise, we can meet your needs.

Our staff is experienced in both the operation and storage requirements of every type of automobile.

The Auto Inn can arrange for minor cosmetic and automotive repairs and/ or deliver your vehicle to the mechanical maintenance firm of your choice. We can also arrange for any maintenance requested. Click here for a list of some of the services we offer.

Today, The Auto Inn can accommodate 170 vehicles, stored in our climate controlled facility sustaining 80° to 85° temperature during the summer months.

The Auto Inn has a 24-hour fully activated fire sprinkler system and 24-hour security, including, fire and intrusion alarms as well as video surveillance.
